The Feed Head
The stud arrives into the head and is blown into the cavity behind the jaws.
A sensor detects its presence and signals a pneumatic cylinder to push the stud through the jaws.
A signal is sent to the PLC telling it to rotate the boss through 90° by means of the other air cylinder
The stud is ready for insertion.
The press can now cycle, once complete, the process of loading the head begins again while the ram is on its way to TDC.
