Exciting New Robotic Arm Development

08/01/2007

BAS REACHES OUT FOR PROCESS COST SAVINGS
Robotic cell technology is currently utilized as an acceptable second operation for the automatic feeding of Flangeform nuts, studs and SPAC nuts. It allows for the flexibility of processing a variety of parts in any sequence with different fastener combination, i.e. different size nuts or stud combination.

Programs utilizing robotic cell technology feeding Flangeform and SPAC include the USA Ford Fusion, the Edge and the Land Rover new Freelander. BAS Components has now taken the flexibility offered by robotics to the next level, by incorporating the auto feed on the robotic arm. Instead of taking the part robotically to the fastener auto feed system, we now take the feed system robotically to the part.

This allows the auto feeding of Flangeform and SPAC products to be incorporation within the assembly line or track. This major break through was once again driven by BAS commitment to work on driving down process costs associated with the emplacement of fasteners.
