BAS Components ball stud technology with auto feed directly into the die

12/03/2007

Ball studs are used to attach moving pivots such as gas struts to tail gates. There are broadly three current types,
The two-piece, consisting of an attachment nut usually a weld nut and machined ball component manually screwed in.
A welded one piece ball stud.
A one-piece spin rivets type.
The one thing in common is that they are expensive as piece parts and also in assembly PROCESS COSTS.

In answer to the situation BAS engineering have developed a new revolutionary one-piece Flangeform ball stud that can be auto feed directly into the die. This results in a component cost saving and the elimination of the costly second operation.

When evaluated by a leading European automotive OEM. The BAS new ball stud represented a significant cost saving on every vehicle model in production. The launch vehicle for the ball stud was the New Ford Galaxy, and it is now incorporated in the design of future vehicles.

BAS Components offers a full range of ball studs covering high performance applications, with a large Flangeform M8 head, and the recently developed 06 head version for less demanding applications, or if there is a space constraint. Tapered shank ball studs favoured by the USA market are also available.
